IT Essentials (5th Edition) (Companion Guide) Reviews
I bought the kindle version. I like to put it on read back and listen to the book while driving. I have an older kindle so the pictures and diagrams are better online, but I can read it in a relaxed location. I find it very helpful to keep re-reading or listening to certain difficult chapters, despite the odd machine-speak version of many abbreviations and tech terms. It is exactly the same as the online text, so you may not need it. However, I find it hard on the eyes to use the screen version all the time. Another student had the same issue and decided to order the print version after the first few lessons. I took off one star because they have not done anything to make the kindle version easier to search and you end up with every mention of each term from the beginning to the end of the text.
This book is only two years old by the copyright date, yet it is not even close to being in line with the on-line book at netacad.com from Cisco.
If you are taking the course at a college I recommend this book. The class I had offered it on line to read but being old school I like having a hard copy in front of me and the ability to make notes in it. I did not find out about the book until I was half-way through the class, I would have done better having the book from the get-go.
Finally, a text book written for those of us that fall asleep reading the dry version of IT tech. This author keeps it light, yet remindful of the requirements of the CCNA system and it's dreaded exams. It has everything I needed for my second semester of IT Tech.
Well, there is nothing wrong with this book. I was disappointed to learn that this 'required textbook' was actually NOT supposed to be listed for that class. So long story short, I wasted my money and have this for a few months to collect dust. Oh well, the price of higher education.
Nice book for someone like me who needs it for an introduction to computer repair classes. I wish I would have just bought it, so I could have it for later reference.
Well this is the best book you should get if you are a student because i know that the other book does not have picture like this one that is why they call this book the Companion Guide. It is just like using Cisco Academy Online but in a book it is great. My test scores have really improved now that i have this book.
Book for school was the one my teacher wanted me to learn from, so it filled it's funtion
