Discovering Jesus in Genesis (Covenant Promises for Covenant Kids) Reviews
Great book for use with older kids and adults! Easy to use and Biblically sound! Two very respected Godly women as authors.
This is a great book for our family devotions. It keeps my 8 year old interested and she is excited to find out what is going to happen next.
Outstanding covenantal approach to Genesis. Very Christocentric, rather than bare moralisms. Very smartly done for a children's book, but still accessible and practical for the kids. As an adult I have valued its perspective too.
The book of Genesis is the focus here, and the lessons help explore God's grace as well as the covenant values of stewardship, worship, obedience, trust, thankfulness, and love. The plot involves three children: Cassie, Daniel, and Caleb; and an elderly neighbor, Sir John. He invites the children to participate in a summer Bible study. He emphasizes the stories of Abraham and Joseph with the children.
My daughter refers to these books as "The Casey and Caleb books", and she absolutely loves them. I've been using these books as a discipleship tool with my daughter, and have been very pleased with how they are written. My daughter really looks forward to our time together.
I love the Susan Hunt books for kids. I use them for devotions. I recommend using Big Truths first and let your kids get to know the characters. Then move to Discovering Jesus in Exodus--it is a little simpler than this book. All the books captivate the imagination and my children relate to the situations Cassie and Caleb encounter. My children remind me that it is time for our devotion. I attribute that to their enjoyment of Mrs. Hunt' books.
This is a great book, my grandchildren love it. It also came in plenty of time for Christmas.
