Painting Methods of the Impressionists Reviews
I've owned, read or borrowed probably every book of "Impressionist techniques" out there. If you get only one book, this should be the one. This is not a silly "how-to" book. Beautifully researched and written by a working artist with insights and details that only a fellow painter can uncover and bring to life. It's not just about impressionist painting -it's about painting -and the artistic process-in general. Highly recommended.
The best descriptions i've ever read of each artist's intent, view, and technique. From the way each viewed what he saw to how he translated that to capture it on the canvas. Very enlightening. Not all impressionists had the same motivations or vision. One cannot do anything but copy them without an understanding of how they saw and felt what they painted.
Very nice book. Photos aren’t so great but lots to read! I haven’t dove into reading it yet but looks like I’ll learn a lot!
Excellent advice on a painterly method inspired by the Impressionist style. Very inspiring.
I'm still trying to read it. Lots of info, a little dry. I like when they put the actual palettes that the artists's used. As a painter, that appeals to me.
This is a great resource... I learned a lot from this... was required by current class. Glad I bought it!
Excellent photography, very interesting and helpful book for artists.
You can learn a lot from this book. I was after a little more detail on Monet, but he is covered.
