Knit Together: Discover God's Pattern for Your Life Reviews
Debbie Macomber's Knit Together starts out with a wonder introduction by Liz Curtis Higgs who calls Macomber a savvy mentor who helps point the way to our God-given purpose in life. An outstanding first nonfiction book, Knit Together is written so that each chapter addresses an area that the reader is created for, such as created for purpose, created for dreams, created for success to name a couple of the twelve chapters, ending with created to worship.
I borrowed this book from the local library and found I couldn't put it down. I wanted it for my own library of "books that make a difference in my life." Debbie Macomber has expertly reminded the reader of how amazingly, awesomely, and wonderfully God has designed each individual. Not only are we knit together in the body of Christ, we are knit together with one another in heart, and understanding. Go uses figures of speech to emphasize important details in His Word. Debbie makes the figure of speech, "knit together" more than a metaphor; it becomes living and real and demonstrates the importance of how interwoven we are in our lives presently. I was delighted to see how many of the writers currently on our bookshelves she referenced in her work.
This is one of the best books I have ever read. It is definitely going on my list of one of top favorites. The author weaves personal stories with practical suggestions. Her stories made me laugh and cry and begging for more. One of the suggestions that I am going to put to use immediately is to create a gratitude journal. I am also going to have a gratitude tea party sometime in June and invite people who have been blessing in my life.
I bought this book for myself and read it twice before deciding that I wanted my daughter to read it. So, I bought it and sent it to her after Christmas. I love the analogies that the book makes. We choose the yarn, the people that we incoperate into our lives, and the pattern we want to create with our life. Do we include God in the design? Do we pray and listen for inspiration from Him?
This purchase was a gift for a friend whose book club had decided to read this book as their next project. This book is somewhat in a text book/workbook format perfect for a group study.
I'm not a huge fan of romance/fiction novels but I'm an avid reader of non-fiction. So I had not really ever heard of Debbie Macomber and bought this for it's knitting "theme" and Christian topic. It is a wonderful book, elegantly written with many quoted Bible verses. The chapters are well organized and speak to my heart and Faith. A very thought provoking book that is both inspiring and encouraging to bring one closer to God and one's purpose.
If you are trying to "fine tune" your life mission, calling or your occupation, this book has a wonderful formula to help you determine just that. It is easy to read, wonderfully inspirational and I feel should be required reading for all people before leaving high school. Great for any age or stage of life if you truly want to know why you were put here on earth. Have shared with many.
Wonderful book for yourself or with a small group of women. Awesome resource for introspection and discovering your purpose.
