Finding Susie Reviews
I love this book written by Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor. I am a retired elementary school librarian, and I feel that it has an important message to impart to children. Wild animals belong in the wild. It is best to have a pet that is meant to be domesticated. After attempting to bring home many other animals, Sandra at last finds the dog named Susie! It is a little lost doggie that needs a home! How perfect, because there are too many lost doggies out there who would benefit from the love of a child who is seeking a pet!!! Both the dog and the child can benefit greatly from the mutual love in this relationship!
My family has connections to the southwest New Mexico area and we enjoy the word pictures Ms. O'Conner gives us of past times in that area. We also appreciate the values and personal enjoyments she shares.
A lovely story , which my grandson enjoyed. Knowing that this young country girl later becomes a Supreme Court Justice makes it even more interesting.
What a charming book! What better gift for a grand daughter than a book by one of the heroines of my life! My grand daughter is 6 and I will love sharing this book with her and telling her all about the wonderful life of my favorite Cowgirl Hall of Fame Justice.
Lovely story about Sandra's different pets before she finds her best friend Susie. Lovely illustrations make the story come alive. Children and adults will enjoy this great book.
FINDING SUSIE written by Sandra Day O'Connor and illustrated by Tom Pohrt is a beautiful picture book for youngsters. In case you are wondering: yes, it is that Sandra Day O'Connor, the former Supreme Court Justice. I was so excited to see that an amazing female role model from my childhood has turned her skills into writing a children's book that my kids can appreciate.
Animal lovers and non-animal lovers alike will enjoy this tale of the quest for the perfect pet. Young Sandra (yes, this is written by Sandra Day O'Connor, the first female Supreme Court Justice) lives on a ranch with her mother and father. It can get fairly lonely on the ranch and she begs her parents for a pet. The book chronicles Sandra as she comes across animals in the desert that need her help, and asks the question if wild animals make good pets?
