The Overstreet series of books have a system for identifying and determining the value of prehistoric arrowheads in the continental United States and Alaska. The book is divided into geographic zones, such as the Southwest, or the North Central, etc. You will need to know the general area where the arrowhead came from, and then compare its general shape with other known types in the same area. Once you have identified one or several types that are similar to the arrowhead you are attempting to identify, you can compare your arrowhead to the pictures and descriptions of the other similar type or types. These pictures are in black and white, except for a few pages of broad/general overview of all arrowheads. The book is very useful for identifying the specific name of the arrowhead you are attempting to identify and its age.

My farm was a few miles away from a reserve. I bought this book in case I came across arrowheads as some of my neighbors had told me. I never did - but I still read the book and found it somewhat informative. I think if you really did come across an arrow you would probably check the internet first and work your way to a dealer - this book may help you identify the arrow easier than most websites - but that is where I would say its value lays.

My dad loves Indian artifacts and he was so excited when I bought this book as a birthday present for him. He had a similar book with a lot less detail and information that he had worn out. So when I gave this book to him he couldn't wait to read it, and it wasn't just because he was being polite. I know a little about Arrowheads, and was amazed by the pictures and detail in this book. If you like Arrowheads, then I think you will love this book. My dad still talks about the book because he looks at it often. Great price and Great buy!!!

I don't have enough arrowheads to actually need this book.....but it has also made a great read, just for general interest. I have Native American ancestry,so that provided some extra interest. I have no interest at all in reading the widespread New Age publications talking about mystical stuff and chants and dances etc......this book however is about real history .For anyone with a general interest in all kinds of general knowledge, this is actually a great book to browse through and then stop and read whatever catches you interest at that moment. You don't need to be a fanatical collector of arrowheads.

11 years strong and still growing. If one wants to identify, classify, grade, or estimate their arrowhead(s) value, then this is the must have book. All the arrowheads are shown actual size, less otherwise noted. It sorts arrowheads by national (U.S.A.) regions. There is no other book of it's kind!

I have found the Overstreet book concerning arrowheads to be a "must have" guide when delving into the world of Indian artifacts. It is easy to use as well as very expansive in covering the types of arrowheads found in North America.

This is the most detailed and comprehensive book on the subject of Ancient Stone Arrowheads I have ever read. Each state in the USA is finely detailed with excellent submissions from each area of each state. Very good information on how to grade and price heads as well are included in great detail.
